Thousands Pack Market Square For Pens Rally

PITTSBURGH —

Thousands of fans filled Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh Friday to rally for the Pens.

The Stanley Cup finals rally hosted by Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato started at noon, but fans began arriving at Market Square as early at 10 a.m.

Penguins game highlights were shown to fire-up the crowd. Representatives from Wholey's in the Strip District were also on hand to fry an octopus. As a tradition, Red Wings' fans toss octopi onto the ice after their team wins important games.
