Who Is Bill Cowher?

 
After 15 years with the Pittsburgh Steelers, head coach Bill Cowher is called it quits.

Cowher, the longest tenured coach in the NFL, resigned on Friday.

In the first 14 seasons under Cowher, the Steelers earned 19 postseason berths, captured eight division titles, advanced to six AFC championship games, made two Super Bowl appearances and won one title last year.

In Super Bowl XL, the Steelers beat the Seahawks 21-10.

Before coaching the Steelers, Cowher was a NFL assistant coach for seven years and player for five years.

The 49-year-old Pittsburgh native graduated from Carlynton High School in 1975.

There, he excelled in football, basketball and track.

He attended North Carolina State where he was a three-year starter at linebacker.

It was at N.Ca. State where he met his wife, Kaye.

The Cowhers have three daughters: Meagan, Lauren and Lindsay.
