State police search for man involved in reported luring attempt

MOUNT PLEASANT, Pa. — State police are asking for help identifying a suspect in a luring attempt in Mount Pleasant.

A 12-year-old-girl told investigators a middle-aged man approached her over the weekend and told her if she got into his vehicle he would drive her wherever she wanted to go.

The girl ran to a neighbor’s home for help and was not injured.

Tanya Null has 5 children and 1 grandchild living with her on High Street, not far from where the reported luring attempt took place.

“You can blink and there you go, one of you kids are gone,” Null said. “It could happen everywhere.”

She’s one of several neighbors concerned about the report and whether the man will return.

State police describe the suspect as a white male, 40-50 years old, medium build with gray/brown hair, a closely shaved beard and possible tattoo on his right bicep.

“I have a girl the same age,” said mother Amber Mayberry. “She walks down to the bus stop by herself. I want to let her be independent, but now I can’t do that. I have to smother her because people can’t stay away from kids.”

Police say the man was driving a 2-door red car with black rims and a plastic flower on the dashboard.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pennsylvania State Police at (724) 832-3288.
