Superhero window washers surprise patients at Children's Hospital

PITTSBURGH — Patients at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh woke up to four surprise guests outside their windows, when they found  superheroes with squeegees in hand, cleaning their windows.

Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, and Captain America joined forces to help put smiles on patients’ faces on Thursday.

The superheroes, who moonlighted as window-washers from Allegheny Window Cleaning Inc., made sure to stop and greet children as they descended from the hospital.

The company has been behind the window-washing surprise for a number of years.

“We saw them when we pulled up, so we got to see them on the outside of the building,” said Jean Vanderplaats, who went to the hospital with her two daughters. “We had heard that they do this, but I never seen it personally.”

While these superheroes aren’t able to leap the tall hospital in a single bound, they are able to put smiles on the faces of the children inside of it.
