Suspect in custody in connection with North Versailles home burglaries

NORTH VERSAILLES, Pa. — A suspect is in custody in connection with a string of daytime burglaries in North Versailles.

Police did not release the suspect's name on Wednesday but said he was in custody at a hospital. Officials said he was hurt trying to get away from police.

The man is suspected of breaking into at least three homes in the Green Valley area last week, each time stealing electronics, police said.

Police said that in addition to the three break-ins in North Versailles, there have been two other home burglaries in McKeesport.

Channel 11’s Renee Kaminski spoke with one of several burglary victims who live on East Pittsburgh McKeesport Boulevard. He did not want to be identified but said he came home Friday night and found the glass in his front door had been shattered. He said he was at work when his home was broken into and his TV was stolen.

Angie Schocklee said she will be making sure her home is locked and will also watch out for her neighbors.

“I'm very concerned; there's a lot of elderly people up here,” she said.

The suspect in the North Versailles burglaries will be taken to jail after he is cleared at the hospital, police said.

Anyone with information about the other home burglaries is asked to call police.
