Suspected DUI driver arrested after Route 28 chase

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — A driver suspected of being under the influence was arrested early Wednesday morning after a chase on Route 28 in Allegheny County, police said.

The chase started when an officer tried to stop a vehicle that went through a red light on Freeport Road in East Deer Township, police said. The driver did not stop and continued onto Route 28.

Upon following the vehicle onto Route 28, the officer again tried to conduct a traffic stop. Police said the driver ignored the police lights and sirens, leading the pursuit from Frazer Township to Shaler Township.

The chase came to an end when a rolling roadblock was initiated to stop the vehicle.

The driver, a 25-year-old Oakdale man, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. Charges are pending lab results.
