Teen escapes home invasion in Penn Hills as suspects fire shots

PENN HILLS, Pa. — A teenager home alone Thursday afternoon managed to escape after two intruders broke in and fired shots, police said.

Authorities said two masked men forced their way into the home in the 900 block of Hamil Road. The men told the teenage girl to lie down on the floor and shut off the alarm system.%

Police said the girl managed to escape out the backdoor as the men fired two shots. No one was hurt, but the men remain on the run.

Neighbors who spoke with Channel 11 News said they were taking extra steps to feel safe in their homes.

"We're going to be locking our doors constantly,” one woman said.
