The Prince Igor Opera Gets Revamped

The Bolshoi theater is having another go at Prince Igor opera with the new production staged by a famous Russian stage actor and director Yuri Lyubimov. The new Prince Igor is shorter with Lyubimov cutting out some famous parts of the opera and bringing in new ones, leaving only the classical Polovetsian dances untouched. Vasily Sinaisky, the Bolshoi chief conductor, says that such a new structure of the opera was conceived to make it more dynamic and intense.
