Thieves targeting vehicles at day cares in Cranberry Township area

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — At least three day cares in the Cranberry Township area have recently been targeted by thieves looking to steal from the vehicles of parents who are dropping off their children.

While keeping vehicles locked should help deter thieves, police said a car’s window was broken in the parking lot of the KinderCare on Route 228 in Cranberry. A woman’s purse and credit cards were stolen.

“That's just horrible. You run in just for a second and they steal your stuff. It's ridiculous,” Karen Baker, a parent, said.

Police said two other day cares in the area were hit on the same day last week. Both were Goddard School locations, and in one case, a purse was taken from an unlocked vehicle.

Investigators believe the three incidents are related.
