1 dead after crash in Fayette County

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — One person is dead after a crash in Springfield Township.

The crash happened just before 2 a.m. Sunday on Springfield Pike.

According to police, the driver lost control of the vehicle while traveling westbound.

Upon losing control, the vehicle crashed into a traffic sign and utility pole before crashing into a tree on the left shoulder of the roadway, police said.

The vehicle then became engulfed in flames and the driver was unable to get out of the vehicle, police said.

The driver died as a result of the crash.

The victim was not able to be identified due to the severity of the injuries, according to police.
