16-year-old charged with DUI after chase from Pitcairn to Murrysville

PITCAIRN, Pa. — A 16-year-old is facing charges, including driving under the influence, after a police chase overnight Monday that began in Pitcairn and ended in Murrysville.

Police said they initiated the chase on Second Street in Pitcairn after noticing a woman slumped over in the passenger seat of the car. They tried to make sure she was OK, but the 16-year-old drove off and nearly hit another vehicle head on.

The chase, which lasted about 15 minutes, came to an end on Route 22 in Murrysville when police used spike strips.

“This is a very scary situation. This kid would be out on the street driving around when he's not supposed to after 11 p.m., and intoxicated at this time of the night,” Pitcairn Police Chief Scott Farally said.
