PITTSBURGH — The 25th anniversary of the Susan G. Komen Pittsburgh Race for the Cure® concluded Sunday morning after participants began at 8 a.m.
According to a press release, the Komen Race for the Cure attracted more than 18,000 participants, including approximately 1,500 breast cancer survivors.
So far, the race has helped raise over $31 million for breast cancer research.
The winners of the Race for the Cure 5K were Sean Flannagan – who finished with a time of 17 minutes, 43 seconds – and Morgan Ansell (19:58).
Both of them received a $250 Giant Eagle gift card for coming in first place.

The release also listed the winners from the “survivor” category – participants who registered as breast cancer survivors.
Christine Clark took first place in that category for the women's division with a time of 21 minutes, 50 seconds. John Pitzulo won the men's division, finishing in 32 minutes, 58 seconds.
The winners of the survivor category received a $200 Giant Eagle gift card, according to the release.
Second- and third-place finishers also received gift cards donated by Giant Eagle.
