WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — Two dogs died Sunday morning in a fire that destroyed a family’s rental home in Centerville Borough, Washington County, officials said.
A woman, her fiance and three children were able to safely escape the home on Second Street. Their dogs did not make it.

As flames gutted the family's home, siding on a neighboring home was melted. The neighbor told Channel 11's Lori Houy that she woke up to people pounding on her door and telling her to get out.

Firefighters spent about 1 1/2 hours working to bring the fire under control.
The fire chief said it appears that cooking sparked the blaze, but a fire marshal is working to determine the official cause.
