2 local Girl Scouts sending cookies overseas to military members on board Navy ship

Two Girl Scouts are making it their mission to send sweet treats to heroes on board U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt.

9-year-old Ansley and 6-year-old Caroline Thornsberry are on a mission to sell Girl Scout cookies.

The sisters aren’t just trying to earn a badge. They’re selling the cookies for their neighbor, who is in the Navy.

Their mom said this all started last year and has grown beyond expectations.

In a day’s time, people stepped up and bought 100 boxes that were sent to Lt. Andrew Casson, who is an F-18 pilot deployed on the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt.

He is the Thornsberrys’ neighbor’s son, and he had no idea of the sweet treat he was getting on the ship.

And this year, these young Girl Scouts are at it again, selling cookies for Casson and his shipmates.

The goal is 200 boxes of cookies, but the Thornsberry girls have already exceeded that.

Each box has a handwritten note, and again, it’ll be a surprise delivery.

This is an also important lesson for these two Girl Scouts.

Ansley and Caroline are accepting cookie orders thru Jan. 28, and we’re told they’ll be shipped out shortly after that.
