2 men attempt to rob tire shop, but workers fight back, police say

Two men who showed up at Beaver Tire Service off Route 22 in New Alexandria got more than they bargained for when police say they tried to rob the workers … and the workers fought back.

Joshua Onusko and Jeffrey Reese allegedly told employees they had a flat tire and needed it to be repaired a few weeks ago.

The two were in the lobby area when Onusko asked to use a bathroom. Then, police say, the owner saw him reaching over the counter, with one hand in the cash box and a knife in the other.

Investigators say Onusko handed more than $200 in cash to Reese, who took off running toward Route 22. The owner told police he confronted Onusko and the two struggled on the ground until Onusko broke free.

He encountered a second worker in the garage, who hit him in the hand with a wrench and then in the face, according to police.

The two workers tied Onusko up with an extension cord and waited for police to get there.

Police say they found three stamps bags and marijuana on him, and arrested Reese nearby with needles and more heroin on him.
