Arrest made in shooting of 16-year-old boy

PITTSBURGH — A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that wounded a 16-year-old boy late Sunday night in Pittsburgh’s Homewood South neighborhood, police announced Monday.

Officers found the boy at the intersection of Brushton Avenue and Bennett Street after hearing gunshots and receiving ShotSpotter notifications, police said.

The 16-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the upper leg, police said. He was taken to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

Several blocks from where the teen was found, an off-duty officer saw a man armed with a gun running, officials said. The man, 19-year-old Alexander Clark, was detained.

Clark was later arrested by Gang Violence Intervention detectives and charged in the shooting.

Clark is charged with aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine and criminal conspiracy.
