WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — At least one person was killed Monday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on Route 66 in Westmoreland County, police said.
The medical examiner said John Ghrist was not wearing a seat belt when his car was read-ended along Route 66. That collision caused two other crashes after 9 a.m. near Poke Run Church Road in Washington Township. All southbound lanes of Route 66 were closed in the area for about a 4-mile stretch.

Officials said six vehicles were involved. One car was making a left turn when it was hit from behind. Another vehicle involved swerved into oncoming traffic and was hit by a pickup truck.
Two other people were taken to Forbes Regional Hospital, but their conditions were not immediately available.
