Billions in unclaimed cash, is some of it yours?

Mario Lemieux, Art Rooney II, and Pittsburgh Public Schools have something in common, and you might join them: they all are on a list of people and organizations that are owed money!

Sidney Crosby, Ben Roethlisberger, and Bishop David Zubik are also on the list held by the state.

"I had no, no clue. I have no idea where that could even come from," said Bishop David Zubik of the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese.

Pennsylvania is holding $3.2 billion in unclaimed money. All that money comes from places like insurance companies or doctors' offices that didn't get you the money you were owed because of a misspelled name or an incorrect address. And it's all money treasury officials say they'd love to hand over.

Last fiscal year, Pennsylvania returned nearly $228 million, the most in department history.

Lots of people at Channel 11 found their names on the list, including Gordon Loesch, David Johnson, Peggy Finnegan, Stephen Cropper and Alby Oxenreiter.

Getting the money back is as easy as getting online. You go to the treasury's website to request a claim form. Then you fill it out, get it notarized and mail it in. Most important, you may be required to produce records to prove you're owed the money.

If you put in the request now, the money may not arrive in time for holiday shopping, but it could come in handy when the bills after the holidays arrive.
