Brothers arrested after 15-month investigation into heroin trafficking

A Wilmerding drug investigation that took more than a year resulted in the arrests of two brothers on Thursday, as well as the seizure of a kilogram of heroin.

Ronnell Lawrence, 31, and Rondell Lawrence, 28, are in custody after the Allegheny County District Attorney Narcotics Enforcement Team wrapped up a 15-month investigation, said spokesman Mike Manko.

The investigation began in July 2016, spurred by suspicious activity at a home on Pat Mews Drive in Wilmerding, Manko said.

On Thursday, agents from that team as well as federal agents and local police officers from several jurisdictions arrested Rondell Lawrence at that home, Manko said. Ronnell Lawrence was arrested at his home in McKeesport.

The brothers will be prosecuted at the federal level for heroin trafficking in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey, Manko said.
