• Children among 4 hurt when car hits pole, bringing wires down on house

NORTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Four people were hurt Friday morning when their vehicle crashed into a utility pole, which then fell and brought wires down onto a house in North Strabane Township, emergency dispatchers said.

The accident was reported shortly after 3:30 a.m. on Green Valley Road. Officials told the woman who lives in the home that the driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer.

Two adults and two children in the car were hurt, dispatchers said. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

“I was hoping everyone in the car was OK. I called 911. My heart was pounding. I think it took 10 minutes before my heart stopped pounding,” Debbie Gamble, the homeowner, said.

No one inside the home, which sustained minor damage, was hurt.

About 20 customers in the area were temporarily without power because of the accident.
