Democrats calling for Butler Co. Republican's resignation over confrontation with lawmaker

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Democrats are calling on Butler County Republican Daryl Metcalfe to resign over a confrontation with another lawmaker.

He suggested a colleague was making a pass at him because he was touching his arm.

"I'm heterosexual, I have a wife, I don't like men as you might, but stop touching me all the time," Metcalfe can be heard saying to Rep. Matt Bradford. "Like keep your hands to yourself. If you want to touch somebody, you have people on your side of the aisle that might like it, but I don't."

Channel 11 tracked both of them down and talked to both over the phone.

Metcalfe, who is a Republican from Cranberry, told Channel 11 Bradford has been touching him in a way he sees inappropriate for months and he wanted to draw attention to it.

He thinks given the climate right now, people should know that battery charges can potentially be brought for something like this.

"We're officially off the rails," Bradford said in response.

He is a Democrat from eastern Pennsylvania, married with children, who told Channel 11 he thinks the video speaks for itself.

Bradford also said he was stunned and shocked, as someone who speaks with his hands, he claims it was an innocuous attempt to get Metcalfe to let him speak.

He also claims Metcalfe has made anti-gay comments in the past.

When Channel 11 asked if Bradford thinks Metcalfe should resign, he said he's too close to the situation to comment on that.

Metcalfe told Channel 11 he absolutely has no plans to resign.
