Donation drive, tetanus shots offered to Fox Chapel flood victims

FOX CHAPEL, Pa. — It's been a rough week for folks in the Fox Chapel and Millvale area as residents clean up from last week's flooding.

A donation drive for victims continued Wednesday at Fox Chapel Plaza in O’Hara Township.  It was created to help flood victims get back on their feet as they work to pick up the pieces. The store offers a number of free items from storage containers, to clothing to appliances to various pieces of furniture.

Any donation could make a difference.

“These are our neighbors. We all have to pass these houses that were affected. We have to help these people,” community organizer Emily Markel said.

UPMC St Margaret is working to keep employees safe and thanking them for doing their jobs.

Flood victims and volunteers can get free tetanus shots at Roots of Faith in Sharpsburg Wednesday afternoon.

A lot of people have been in the thick of the storm damage and floodwaters.

Health officials said you can get sick in those conditions, so they don’t want to take any chances.

In addition to providing free shots, UPMC St. Margaret and the St. Margaret Foundation are also giving workers a free lunch to thank them for their efforts.

A North Hills community group is also reaching out for assistance helping others. Cash and gift cards to major retailers are being accepted. Visit the North Hills Community Outreach website to learn more.
