Robert Thomas and Cheron Shelton are accused of killing six family members during a backyard barbecue in Wilkinsburg last year.
Thomas and Shelton were jailed a few weeks after the crime on drug charges from 2013 that had previously been dismissed twice.

Their lawyers claimed prosecutors improperly filed the charges to keep them in jail after identifying them as suspects in the Wilkinsburg massacre.
Monday’s developments should have no impact on that case once it gets to trial.
