EMT found guilty of harassing but not of touching co-worker inappropriately

One day after some shocking admissions in court from a former paramedic, a jury found him not guilty of sexually harassing a co-worker.

Jurors found Sean Dornin not guilty of both stalking and indecent assault; however, the judge found him guilty of harassment and sentenced him to 90 days in jail, to which he replied: "I'm sorry for my behavior."

The former Jefferson Hills fire captain and paramedic was accused of sexually harassing a fellow medic and touching her inappropriately over a period of a year. He testified Tuesday that he touched his co-worker's breasts about 10 times.

Assistant District Attorney John Friedmann said the verdict was disappointing to his client, who he felt was being blamed.

"Regardless of the verdict, that behavior isn't going to be tolerated in our society, in Washington County and it's as offensive as it sounds," Friedmann said.

Dornin's defense attorney said his client is an upstanding citizen with a great track record of working well with women.

In court Tuesday, Dornin took the stand in his own defense, saying he felt like she was flirting with him and gave implied consent.

He said on another occasion he did massage her shoulders in the computer room saying, "I attempted to put my hands down her shirt while nibbling on her ear."

His defense attorney clarifying that he never did touch her under her shirt, but the prosecutor cross-examined him asking, "How many times she say yes? 'Yes, I want you to touch my breasts?'"

And Dornin said, "Never."

"I don't want to speak for the judge, but hopefully Dornin will see that sentence is a direct reflection of the behavior that he exhibited towards the victim," Friedmann said.

Dornin is expected to head to jail next week, but will be allowed out on work release.
