PITTSBURGH — A business was damaged by an explosive device Monday night in Pittsburgh’s Mt. Washington neighborhood, according to investigators.
Police said 911 dispatchers received a burglar alarm call about 10:30 p.m. from Boehmer Heating & Cooling on Hargrove Street. Minutes later, the fire alarm sounded.

When fire crews first responded to the business, it was determined that there was not a fire. However, just before 11:30 p.m., crews were called for a second fire alarm and found smoke and damage to a door and the ceiling above it, officials said.
Arson investigators and the bomb squad were brought in and determined that there had been an explosion. The initial findings are that someone placed an explosive device through a mail slot.
No one was in the building at the time, and no one was injured. Employees told Channel 11 they believe the business was targeted.
"We have no idea if it's a prank or somebody unhappy," said the business owner. "We just don't know."
