PITTSBURGH — The former director of the University of Pittsburgh’s counseling center will stand trial on child porn charges.
During Edward Michaels’ preliminary hearing on Thursday, an exterminator who brought the case to light testified about what he saw while performing work in Michaels’ Wilkinsburg home.
The exterminator said he saw suggestive photographs of young girls, which prompted police to get involved.
Police took two computers, as well as memory sticks, from Michaels’ home. Investigators said they uncovered hundreds of sexually explicit photographs of young girls.

Michaels’ attorney, David Shrager, said he will have to review the photographs before his client’s next hearing.
“They said that they appear to be this … they were suggestive. That's not hard and fast testimony. I need to look at the evidence,” Shrager said. “What people’s interpretation of evidence is not terribly relevant to me. What's important to me is the actual evidence and how the court interprets it.”
