Young died from blunt force trauma to the head and middle part of her body. Her death was not ruled a homicide, but undetermined.

Her body was found on March 13 along Washington Boulevard under the Larimer Avenue Bridge. At the time, investigators said her body was partially dressed and that it had been there for some time.

Young’s mother, Adrianne Jeffries, said life has not gotten any easier in the year since her daughter disappeared, but she tries to stay positive.

“I’m strong for my grandkids, but things get hard. And they get hard and I get back up,” said Jeffries.

Jeffries decided to take things a step further when it comes to her daughter’s death. She is raising money to get a private investigator to look at the case.

For the first time, she is stepping out into the community hoping to find more resources.

Jeffries is attending an event Saturday at the Kingsley Center hoping to be joined with other black mothers who are experiencing what she is.

“I’m hoping that this will be helpful to myself and other parents that are going through the same thing that I’m going through,” she said.
