When Chopper 11 flew over the scene about 11 a.m., a hole could be seen burned through the roof and smoke continued to billow from the home.
"I just repainted and redid every room in that house," Keith Campbell told Channel 11's Cara Sapida.
The father of five watched in horror as firefighters tried to put out the flames but couldn't get water from the nearby hydrant.
“They could've got my house out. Now I got to suffer,” Campbell said.
There was an issue with the water line, which kept crews from preventing the fire from spreading.
Without access to water, they couldn't fight the fire except with the water on their trucks.
The home was destroyed.
Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority tells Channel 11 a 10-foot piece of pipe split right after firefighters arrived on scene. That caused a leak and the hydrant went dry. SPWA said firefighters went 10 minutes without water until a worker directed them to two working hydrants so they could begin hauling water.
