A former Mount Pleasant police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman was arrested Thursday on more charges.

John Brown, of Mount Lebanon, was suspended from his job when a woman came forward, saying he assaulted and forced sexual acts on her.

Officials said that accusation led to four more alleged victims coming forward from Allegheny, Westmoreland, Beaver and Erie counties. In response, police filed five more complaints against him from alleged incidents in 2014 and 2015.

The four women said they saw the news coverage of Brown's arrest last year and said something similar happened to them. Investigators said Brown is accused of forcing sexual acts on at least four women, grabbing them by the hair and locking them in his trunk until he let them out.

Several alleged victims told police that Brown intimidated them and they sobbed until they could get away. One woman told police that when she told Brown to stop, he got angry and choked and slapped her.

Police said the alleged crimes happened in parking lots, bars and inside of the State Security Investigation Services building in Pittsburgh.

Brown was suspended from the Mount Pleasant Police Department without pay until the first case moved through the court system. The mayor said Brown remains on suspended leave pending the outcome of the case.
