KENNEDY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A construction crew hit a gas line on Thursday causing a gas leak that prompted evacuations in Kennedy Township.
Peoples Gas told Channel 11 that a West Penn Utilities hit a gas line near 215 Beecham Drive.
West Penn Utilities said the line was marked incorrectly.
“The pavement blew up and the gas came flying out, and then it was coming up through the side, so it was pretty wild,” Ty Soberdash, from West Penn Utilities, said.
People inside three buildings were being evacuated, including Rosedale Technical College.
The line is temporarily repaired and Peoples Gas said they should have the line fixed by the end of the day.
