Gov. Tom Wolf 'frustrated' by government shutdown

Pa. Gov. Tom Wolf said he was frustrated that the federal government could not pass a long-term solution regarding funding – causing the shutdown.

The U.S. government shut down at midnight after Congress failed to resolve a partisan standoff over immigration and spending, according to the Associated Press.

In a late-night vote, Senate Democrats joined to block a bill that would have kept the government running for another four weeks, the AP said. A flurry of last-minute negotiations failed to beat the deadline.

"It is imperative that President Trump and Republican leaders in Washington get back to work before the impacts to states and critical services are more widely felt,” Wolf said in a statement Saturday. “I will work to manage the impact on state government to avoid disruption in the short term.

“Chaos in Washington benefits no one and their failure to get bipartisan agreement is unacceptable,” said Wolf.
