Ice cream truck stolen at gunpoint

ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — An ice cream truck driver was robbed at gunpoint in an Aliquippa neighborhood.

His truck was stolen while he was selling treats to kids at Valley Terrace on Aug. 27.

Police say a man with a gun stormed into the truck and started driving it toward Route 51.

The truck's owner actually jumped out of the window to get away and ran down the hill to the Aliquippa police station.

Right after that, the ice cream truck was in a crash at Kiehl Street and Highland Avenue.

When police got there, they found the truck still running, but no driver, and the truck's music still playing.

When officers searched the truck, some ice cream was missing, but the cash drawer was still there, with all the cash inside.

Police identified their suspect, Devenn Matthews, through surveillance video captured by cameras at Valley Terrace.

He was arrested six days later.

Matthews is in the Beaver County Jail after failing to post bond.

He's charged with robbery, carrying a gun without a license and other offenses.
