POLK COUNTY, Ga. — Six inmates who helped save a deputy’s life in Georgia could see a 25 percent reduction for their heroic actions.
The inmates were on a work detail at a cemetery on June 12 when the supervising deputy began coughing and collapsed.

The inmates began performing CPR and one used the officer’s phone to call 911, and not a single one of them attempted to run away.

Polk County Sheriff Johnny Moats told
he plans to take about 25 percent off the sentence for each inmate.
"As we watched the horrific manhunt this week of the two inmates that killed two correctional officers, we all know that Monday could have ended differently for our officer," the sheriff’s office posted on Facebook.
