Investigation continues after teen shot, killed in Lincoln-Lemington

Police are continuing their investigation after a teen was shot and killed in Pittsburgh's Lincoln-Lemington neighborhood on Friday.

Police were originally called to a house at Paulson and Dean streets just after 3 p.m.

When officers got there, they found the victim, Taymere Donald, lying in the street. Donald died a short time later at UPMC Presbyterian.

"It's unfortunate because I saw the gentleman not too long ago before that," said Jon Hairston, with the Paulson Community Center. "He waved at me. I waved back at him. It's kind of hard when you find out what happens afterwards."

"I'm still in shock," neighbor Carmen Brown said. "I knew that baby. I knew his sister. I know his mother."

In a related incident, a SWAT situation following the fatal shooting of a teenager ended peacefully Friday night, authorities said.

Police started searching for the shooter, which they say led them to the house in the 6400 block of Apple Avenue. SWAT officers approached the front door of the home and yelled for people inside to come out.

Pittsburgh city public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said two people fled from the residence and were both taken into custody. Two others came out of the house without issue.

The SWAT team cleared the house, finding drugs and drug paraphernalia, Toler said.

Toler did not say if the shooting suspect was among those taken into custody. She said the shooter is believed to be male, but there was no description available.

The Violent Crime Unit is continuing the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
