James Street Gastropub celebrates final night of operation

A popular Pittsburgh jazz club is feeling the blues.

James Street Gastropub & Speakeasy closed for good at 2 a.m. Sunday morning, celebrating one final evening of music and relaxation.

The club, located on Foreland Street, has been a jazz site since the 1980s – featuring local artists and groups on its stages.

However, the club’s general manager said there are reasons for the club’s closing.

"This is a sad day, but i think everybody should be excited they're working together for the first time in a long time and we're going to change things and make this scene better for the whole entire city," said Kevin Saftner, the general manager.

They have received several noise complaints over the past few months, and they just could not take any more of them.
