Kennywood's Holiday Lights begin on Black Friday

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — Black Friday is the official kickoff of the holiday shopping season. It’s also the start of Kennywood’s Holiday Lights.

The park is putting the final touches on its displays, which feature more than 2 million lights.

“If you like the holidays, this is a great place to be,” said Nick Paradise, director of public relations and social media.

In addition to the lights, guests can ride some of the rides, including the Merry-Go-Round, Noah’s Arc, Kangaroo, Pirate Ship and many of the rides in Kiddie Land.

There are also plenty of holiday activities like choirs, pictures with Santa Claus, cookies, a soup and chili bar and Potato Patch fries.

“A lot of people do still think of Kenny as just a summertime experience, but there’s really a lot to see and do here for the holidays,” Paradise said. “It’s a great tradition. Something for every member of the family, even if you just come and walk around to see the lights.”

Kennywood’s Holiday Lights is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 23, then Dec. 26 through Dec. 30, 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
