Landslide forces Beaver County family out of home

A Beaver County homeowner was forced to evacuate his family after a landslide behind his house.

There are ruts in his backyard, some 5 to 6 feet deep, as the land continues to move toward his house. Parts of the foundation are buckling.

First responders helped him get as much as he could out of the house.

“This just keeps on moving and now it's pushed up against our house,” said homeowner Pat Young.

Young’s backyard is now up against the foundation, which is buckling.

Friday night at the height of the storm, this land moved 5 feet; now it's been moving an inch per hour.

Young and his wife were ordered to leave, and so were two neighbors who live nearby.

They took whatever they could gather quickly, and wonder when the rain will stop and the ground will stop moving.

“This has never happened in the 70 years that this home's been in our family. We don't know what to do,” said Young.

Young is now staying with family and is waiting to hear back from his insurance company.
