Man accused of threatening officers with gun, injuring them with his vehicle

SCOTT TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Wilkinsburg man is accused of threatening two police officers with a gun, then assaulting them with his vehicle.

The officers were investigating a fight among teenagers on Locust Street in Scott Township.

Just before 8 p.m. Tuesday, officers stopped a driver for speeding. Police said that instead of complying with the requests, the driver, Reese Elliott, refused and said he had a gun.

As one officer tried to put the vehicle into park, Elliott accelerated, trapping the officer's arm in the steering wheel and hitting the second officer who was standing next to the vehicle, police said.

One officer fired two shots, but it's unclear whether anyone was hit.

Elliott sped off but was taken into custody a few blocks away on Greentree Road, police said.

Police searched the car and found a gun in the front of the driver's seat, according to the complaint.

The passenger had already bailed, but was taken into custody nearby on Hope Hollow Road.
