Man arrested for breaking into woman's home, attempting to rape her

“God did pick her up off that floor and let her get out of there,” said Tammy Debar, the neighbor who ran to help after police say a stranger broke in to a woman's home, tied her up and tried to rape her.

The brutal attack happened Friday night in Pleasant-Unity, 15 minutes outside of Greensburg.

Police were able to track the man because of zip ties they say he bought at a dollar store.

"That's a little scary in your own community,” said Debar, who is still shaken up, along with her other neighbors on Snyder Avenue in the Hillside Estates Mobile Home Park.

That's where police say Jeremy Jacobs broke into the home of a woman whom he did not know and terrorized her.

"I went over to make sure she was OK and she was on the phone. God love her, she was so shaken," Debar said.

Police allege Jacobs pistol-whipped the woman, roughed her up and used duct tape and zip ties to hold her down. He eventually tried to rape her.

Her neighbor says the woman, an area bus driver, mustered up enough strength to get away from him.

“She has a hard time walking so it was definitely a miracle," Debar said.

The police report says Jacobs ran away, but was eventually caught because the tape and zip ties he left behind were traced back to a nearby dollar store, where police say he bought them.

Jacobs is still in jail, unable to post bail.
