• Man killed in Westmoreland County industrial accident

A Bentleyville man died in an accident at a Washington County coke plant late Sunday night.

Robert Flett, 60, died of blunt force trauma to the chest at the ArcelorMittal Coke Plant in Monessen, according to the county coroner’s office, which released its autopsy report Tuesday.

The accident happened at between 10:35 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. Sunday, the coroner said, but Flett was declared dead at Mon Valley Hospital at 12:15 a.m. Monday.

“Prior to the autopsy, it was unclear whether this was a medical or traumatic event,” the report says.

The coroner determined the death to be accidental. There were no witnesses.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
