Man steals pizza delivery car from outside Allegheny County Courthouse

PITTSBURGH — A man stole a pizza delivery car from outside the Allegheny County Courthouse, where he had just taken a plea deal on a DUI charge, police said.

James Mitchell III, 49, stole the car shortly before noon, police said. The Giovanni’s Pizza delivery man had gotten out of the car to make a delivery.

The delivery man alerted sheriff’s deputies to the theft and said he left his cellphone, a large sum of cash and other food orders inside the car.

Surveillance cameras were used to identify Mitchell, who was found at his home in Indiana Township, police said.

The stolen car was found parked in a nearby church parking lot. The cellphone, money, two pizzas and three hoagies were still inside.

Mitchell was taken to the Allegheny County Jail. He faces charges including theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
