Man struck, run over at Butler Co. gas station

A man was killed Tuesday when a driver inadvertently knocked him down and drove over him at a Butler County gas station.

William Adams, 75, of Pittsburgh was backing away from a gas pump when he struck the victim, whom authorities did not identify, at the Pilot station in Muddy Creek Township, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Adams continued backing up over the victim, not realizing he had hit the victim and the man was under the car. Adams then drove forward until he was stopped by bystanders, police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. No charges have been filed against Adams at this time.
