More people coming forward saying organizer hasn't delivered money linked to fundraiser

Races planned to raise funds for injured police officers and fallen officers' families are being canceled across the country.

This comes just five days after 11 Investigates' initial investigation into the event management company Officers Down 5K and its owner, T.J. Burke.

Since then, Burke, a former local police officer, has sent this email to police departments and race organizers across the country who hired him:

“We were hoping to push through in 2018 but we are currently in a financial hardship and we've decided to close down. My attorney is handling all matters from here on out. Please contact him directly."

11 Investigates interviewed several vendors and race organizers who accused Burke of mishandling money and preying on the loyalty and trust of the law enforcement community.

We told you he's being sued by vendors who claim he hasn't paid them and now he's facing questions from people who signed up for races that have been canceled.

One woman who signed up to run a race in Cranberry Township in May told us she paid about $64 for two registrations, processing fees and T-shirts.

She's now disputing the charges with her credit card company after not getting an answer from Burke about a refund.

Channel 11 reached out again to Burke and his attorney, but as of Monday afternoon we haven't heard back today.

Last week, his attorney said Burke is trying to get people their money and there was no intent to deceive anyone.
