Murder victim's mother desperate for witnesses to come forward

PITTSBURGH — Just over two years have passed since Raekwon Epps was killed in Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood, but his mother is not giving up hope that his killer will be found.

Epps was shot and killed on Brushton Avenue on Aug. 13, 2016.

"It's like he's on top of this mountain right now with his case and he's just waiting for me to reach the top. It's like, every day I'm trying to get there. He's like, 'I'ma be here mom, I'm still here, I'm gonna wait,'" his mother Lisa Epps said.

When Channel 11 first reported on his death, police said rap videos that featured Epps had caught the attention of detectives.

They were looking into a possible link between a rap video and his homicide.

"My son was set up and robbed. The video had nothing to do with my son's murder," Epps said.

Lisa is now making a desperate plea for anyone who may have seen the shooting happen or may know anything about it to come forward.

Channel 11's Marlisa Goldsmith checked with police Tuesday, and they confirmed they are still investigating and cannot comment on an active investigation.
