Off-duty officer dragged after trying to stop child sex assault

Channel 11 has uncovered what an off-duty officer was doing when police say she was dragged by a driver.

Police claim the man was assaulting a 13-year-old girl in his car when the officer stepped in.

Pennsylvania State Police say Lee Rapsinski dragged the off-duty police officer to get away from her last week.

In court Wednesday, Channel 11 learned new charges just filed shed light on why he may have taken off along Dinnerbell road in Jefferson Township when the off-duty officer stopped to check out what was going on inside his car.

According to a criminal complaint that Channel 11 obtained, troopers say Rapsinski had a 13-year-old girl in the back seat of his vehicle, which was parked in some brush.

The teen reportedly told detectives she was assaulted.

Channel 11 found another criminal complaint filed in January against Rapsinski with similar charges: sexual assault and aggravated assault involving a 14-year-old victim.

The suspect wouldn't comment on either case.

Rapsinski is being held in the Butler County Prison.
