One killed in wrong-way ATV crash in Fayette County

FRANKLIN TWP — A Uniontown man was killed in an ATV crash on Route 51 Saturday morning.

Pennsylvania State Police Belle Vernon said the incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. Saturday on Route 51 in the area of Smock Road, Franklin Township, Fayette County, when the ATV he was driving south in the northbound lanes crashed head-on with a car, which was heading north.

Fayette County Coroner Phillip Reilly said Jeremiah Pletcher, 22, died of blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene at 3 a.m.

The other driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested for DUI, police said. Charges have yet to be filed.

Route 51 was closed for 3½ hours as a result of the crash, police said.
