SAN FRANCISCO — A group of protesters drowned out House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi during a speech Monday in San Francisco about the DREAM Act.
The group of young U.S. residents in the country illegally and their supporters carried signs and shouted things like, "Shut down ICE" and "You're a liar" at Pelosi and the other lawmakers taking part in the event. ICE stands for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Pelosi, and Reps. Barbara Lese and Jared Huffman were expected to call for the immediate passage of the DREAM Act at Monday's news conference.
The protest went on for nearly 30 minutes before the news conference was cancelled.
