The home is a total loss, since the roof caved in.

Before escaping the burning home, family members told Channel 11 the couple were able to save their 2-week-old calf that was inside their garage.

The assistant fire chief said the couple are very lucky.

“Very thankful and they’re good people. They farmed all their life. Somebody was looking after them,” Hanover Assistant Fire Chief Mike Ross said.

It is unclear how the fire started, according to fire officials.
