EDGEWOOD, Pa. — Someone tried to rob a grocery store in Edgewood shortly before opening time Wednesday morning.
Police were called just before 6 a.m. to the Giant Eagle in Edgewood Town Centre. Workers said the person who attempted to rob the store had a gun and covered their face.

The attempted robber demanded money, but did not get away with any.
The robbery happened as employees were getting the store ready for customers.
"They had a problem up here a couple of years ago, they had a problem in the vicinity up there, but it's just people don't care anymore," said shopper Rebecca Tucker. "If you're on drugs you'll do anything for money. It doesn't make any difference."
The store still opened for business as usual.
Giant Eagle released the following statement:
"We are thankful that no customers or Team Members were harmed during this morning's incident. The two Edgewood Giant Eagle Team Members directly involved are being offered support services, should they feel the need."
Police have not made any arrests.
