‘Picklesburst’: No giant pickle ornament in Pittsburgh this year after it rips during installation

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership found itself in a bit of a pickle.

The giant pickle ornament will not be installed this holiday season, after it ripped during installation.

The oversized attraction would have been hung in the EQT plaza.

The Downtown Partnership says it’s embracing the “sheer craziness” of 2020, and said the “this latest ‘Picklesburst’ is just another oddity to overcome.”

“We don’t relish the idea of a season without the Ornamental Pickle, but a sliced pickle just won’t cut it,” said Jeremy Waldrup, President and CEO of the PDP. “This is a really big dill … but we still have a ton more to offer this holiday season. While this pickle may have deflated, our spirits for a great holiday season have not!”
